Family Fued?

When Huck finally finds a family it turns out their in this huge war... I mean first an ancestor goes about killing another one and then it is brought up to present day. Why so much violence? So now Huck has no family to go too but a whole house full of goodies. Huck is left without his only friend to help him through this. Will he take things and just leave it like in the abandoned house or will he make it Jim and his home to escape from someone finding him?
