It was very good of Huck to tell the the slave hunters that it was his dad on the raft and not Jim.
It was clever of him to know what people were afraid of(small pox) and use that to keep them away from the raft.

I agree that it was very clever of Huck to make up this lie, however; this is not the first lie Huck has made throughout the book. I think this shows how Huck deals with his problems. Huck uses his lies to survive and to protect Jim, trying not to be killed.

ReplyDeleteI concur with that statement, Huck is a very smart boy. He uses his prior knowledge of being in the town against normal towns people. By saying that his father had small pox so the slave hunters wouldn't go any further towards the raft. Because he said this, he and Jim both got 20 dollar pieces.
