It came as a surprise.
It really came as a surprise when Huck went to help the robbers. You would think that he would just want to leave them for dead. But in the book he said that he could very well one day end up as a murder or robber too. When he went to tell the watchman over the ferryboat about what happened I was very surprised. He makes up this whole story to the watchman about his family being stuck on the boat. And even as far as going his "aunt" was related to a rich guy in town who would pay for them being saved. Huck Finn is quite clever by even going to the boat and leaving some feminine things so that they would know that his "aunt" was on board.

I don't really think Huck can be mean to anyone. He feels sorry for anyone. He doesn't want people dead no matter how bad they were or are. He knows what it's like to be beaten and tortured and all, and he doesn't want any bad to come of people, even if they do deserve it. I know that some people wonder why he didn't just kill his dad instead of faking his own death. Huck isn't a killer. He's a good kid at heart that just happened to have the wrong family to teach him bad habits. And if he can save people like no one ever saved him, then he'll do it.
ReplyDeleteit is pretty surprising but it all goes back to Huck not knowing what he is doing but just being a little confused. he thinks that what he does might be right but it could all be wrong.
