this woman referenced to as the "widow" tried to help huck in his time of need. yet at the same time his way of saying thank you was to run away. i dont get it. he had a hot meal every night and sure he had to wear some uncomfortable clothes but still he had a roof over his head and a bed to sleep in at night.
why would you have all of those luxuries and still run away.

Because obviously he didn't like that lifestyle. You see him talk about how he doesn't like the widow and hates following all the rules. Do people even read the book anymore?
ReplyDeleteHaha. I agree with "zoey101pwns" because it pretty much states in the book the fact that he would even rather live with his dad than the widow. But that is just simply Huck's lifestyle and he would like to live it.
ReplyDeleteHe didnt like living that way. Huck just wants to be himself and live the was he wants. Hick is very independent and him running away is a sign of his independence.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the three previous comments. Huck running away isn't just showing his independence, it's also showing that he's smart. I know you're like, how would it show he's smart by leaving substantial food and shelter for the great outdoors, but he's smart enough to realize there's more out there and that he is capable enough to forfeit that hot meal for a lifestyle he identifies with. Personally, I'm proud of Huck.
ReplyDeleteI as well agree with the comments above. I think that he wanted friends and he wanted to do whatever he wanted. He is a smart kid for his age and he noticed what he was leaving whenever he left.
