A Real Caring Guardian....not really

It was very kind and all for Widow Douglas to take Huck Finn in when he was just a poor twelve -year-old boy with no home or family other than his psycho drunken father. However, as soon as the crazy dad comes back, where does the women who took care of and mentored him for so long? Widow Doulas knew that Huck's father basically kidnapped him and beat him and stuff in his drunken rampages, but yet she still didn't do much to get him back. She just left the poor boy in lockdown in a tiny cabin with dirt floors for months. Yes, granted she did try to send a guy at the very beginning, but seriously, is that even really an attempt?
